What is Possible with ICON’s Calendar Tool?

  • Post course-related events.
    • Project due dates, virtual office hours, quizzes, PBS programs, readings, guest speakers, chats
  • Post personal (your eyes only) events or course (visible to all course members) events.
  • Include an image or a link to a related website, course file, or other area of your ICON course.
  • Compile events for printing.
  • Students can add personal events (visible to the individual only).

Note: The default calendar view is Day. Unfortunately, there is no way to change this dafault to Week or Month.

Posting an Event

  1. From the Course Home, click Open My Calendar, or click Calendar in the NavBar.
  2. Click Add Event in the menu at left.
  3. Type in a title (required, as denoted by the asterisk).
  4. Select a date from the droplist or click the small calendar image beside the droplists.  If the event extends over multiple days, or if you wish to enter a start (and stop) time, click show more options (bottom right).
  5. To link to a related URL, enter the address in the Links textbox.
  6. Choose the event Type:
    • Personal – For your eyes only
    • Course Offering – Visible to all users
  7. Type in a description.  Notice you have access to an html editor () and a spell checker. The HTML editor offers various formatting options. It also allows you to insert images () and add links () to content files, to other areas of your ICON course, and to external websites.
  8. Click Save. The event date is highlighted in the calendar at left.

To view an event, click on the highlighted event date in the calendar at left.

  1. From the Course Home, click Open My Calendar, or click Calendar in the NavBar.
  2. Click View Printable in the menu at left.
  3. Use your browser’s print function to print the page (or copy and paste it into a Word document).
